Silent auctions are auctions where bidders can place their offers on a device or on paper, as opposed to traditional auctions where bidders call out their offers. We choose silent auctions because of the inclusivity. We recognise that not everyone has the means to bid significant amounts of money. Rather than assigning a numerical value to a piece of clothing, bidders are welcome to offer what they deem fit. This also reduces competition during auctions, as our aim is to bring the community together through sustainable fashion and fostering a cooperative and friendly environment. Silent auctions also mean that bidders do not need to make spontaneous decisions that they will later regret. We aim to hold silent auctions to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable fashion by bringing the community together.

Thrift store

Thrift stores promote the buying of second-hand clothing which helps to increase sustainability in the fashion industry. It also reduces waste and carbon footprints which is important in reducing waste production. We aim to partner with local brands that promote sustainable fashion and help protect worker rights. We will be setting up pop-up stores that double as both promoting a sustainable and ethical business, as well as contributing to the sustainable cycle. Thrifting is a fun and interactive way to learn more about how to be more eco-friendly and help the environment.

Clothing drive

Reducing textile waste is a big step towards reaching a sustainable cycle in fashion. Clothes drives extend clothes' lifespan, which helps save landfill space. By hosting clothes drives in our local neighbourhoods, we hope to unite as a community to promote sustainable fashion. To do this, we will partner with other high school students and volunteers who can help us sort through clothing donations. We want to educate the next generation to be mindful about the consequences of unethical fashion cycles.

Fashion Show

Fashion shows are a dynamic fusion of style and sustainability, spotlighting the transformative power of thrifted and upcycled garments. By showcasing unique, pre-loved pieces alongside collaborations with local, ethical brands, we aim to inspire conscious consumerism and demonstrate that fashion can be both stylish and environmentally responsible. The event promises an engaging experience where attendees can discover the joy of thrifting, learn about sustainable practices, and contribute to a circular economy that benefits both people and the planet.
